Application process for students

Step 1: Expression of Interest

  • Contact the University’s LLP-Erasmus Office for information gathering.
  • Follow the Erasmus placement opportunities that the Careers Office is posting on the Careers office website. You are advised to contact the companies directly via email stating your interest about the placement and asking the positions’ requirements.
  • Try your own research: Look for one or more prospective companies, universities or other institutions based in the EU where you would be interested to carry your practical training/field trip/senior project. It is advisable that you contact them yourself and receive at least a tentative approval for you visit and work there. 
  • Should you be selected for an Erasmus Placement contact the Careers Office to arrange the details for the Erasmus funding  and proceed to Step 2

Step 2 : Application Procedure & Documents Submission

Students wishing to participate in the LLP / ERASMUS student Placement must follow the following procedure and submit online at https://e-services.ihu.edu.gr/registration-form/785/online-form :

  • The Original “Letter of Acceptance” in which it should be indicated:
    • Full details of the host Institution /Organization/ Company (logo, address, etc.)
    • Contact details of the placements’ Supervisor at the host organization (Name, title, phone, e-mail, etc.)
    • The period of employment
    • Brief reference of the tasks and duties of the trainee to match the relativity of studies with the subject of training.
    • It should also be mentioned that the acceptance of placements is made under the LLP /ERASMUS Programme and be stamped and signed by the responsible body.
  • Photocopy of a bank statement, stating the holders name, the  IBAN and the bank account number
  • Photocopy of Passport
  • Permanent address and contact details in Greece and abroad

Step 3: After the Selection

  • Complete and Learning Agreement for traineeships (Section to be completed before the Mobility) regarding his or her specific programme for the placement period. This agreement is endorsed by the IHU and must be endorsed by the host organization, too. The Annex should be signed by the student, the Sending Institution and the Host Organization/Institution. The Learning Agreement agreement must be approved by the General Assembly of School to validate the training period abroad. Sign the Training Agreement in duplicate.
  • Complete and sign in the Grant agreement for Erasmus+ HE studies and/or traineeships covering the mobility period, signed by the student and the IHU
  • Obtain the European Health Insurance Card, before their departure.
  • Obtain private company insurance for the period spent abroad. The private company insurance is required for public liability insurance (against body injuries and property damage to third parties) and an accident at work.
  • A visa may be necessary to permit entry into the country 
  • Receive the ERASMUS Student Charter

Step 4: Departure

  • Support (OLS). Based on your assessment results, you may be granted access to a free online language course before and during your stay abroad, in order to improve your language competences and help you get well prepared for your mobility abroad. Access to the course includes tutoring, forums, tips from former Erasmus+ students, and more. In case your main language is not covered by the OLS, linguistic support may be provided through other means by your sending or receiving organization.
  • During your placement you will need to fill in and submit to IHU The “Learning Agreement for traineeships” document (Section to be completed during the Mobility)

Step 5: Upon Return

Upon return students should submit to the Career Office the following documents:

  • A Learning Agreement for traineeships regarding his or her specific programme for the placement period. This agreement is endorsed by the IHU and must be endorsed by the host organization, too.
  • A Placement Certification signed by the hosting institution.
  • Online Linguistic Support (OLS)-part ΙΙ.
  • Any other required supporting documents at the end of the placement. ( boarding pass, ticket invoice etc).

Upon your return, you will be asked to take a final assessment which will allow you to measure the progress you made during your stay abroad.
